Film Screening of "The Road Taken" & Panel Discussion: Challenging racism and sexism in the workplace & labour movement

Afrikan Liberation Month film screenings and intergenerational panel discussions

This month of February 2012, the Network for Pan-Afrikan Solidarity (NPAS) is organizing a month of film screenings and intergenerational panel discussions with the goal of reflecting on, and providing space for further strategizing towards African liberation. As we recognize that our struggles as Afrikan peoples are incontrovertibly similar, these events organized by Network for Pan-Afrikan Solidaity (NPAS) will focus on Afrikan mobilizing, educating and organizing for justice and will highlight the local and international actions that make them possible. Essentially we will focus on issues that relate directly to the material conditions and liberation struggles of Afrikans on the continent and in the diaspora.

This Friday NPAS is ogranizing Film Screening of "The Road Taken" & Panel Discussion: Challenging racism and sexism in the workplace & labour movement:

Panel Discussion: Challenging racism and sexism in the workplace & labour movement

- June Veecock, former Human Rights Director (Ontario Federation of Labour) and community activist: "Fighting Anti-Afrikan Racism in the labour market: Rebuilding the grassroots movement for employment equity"
- Elbert Joseph, President, CUPE Local 2191: "Fighting racism & sexist racism in the labour movement: Organizing with racialized trade union members"
- Kalmplex, artist and community activist: "Youth & the workplace: barriers and challenges, Youth speaker – (and what's working, who's doing it, how we can/should build/support)"
- Beixi Lu, organizer, Workers' Action Centre: "Building grassroots and society-wide support for severely exploited workers: The case of the Worker’s Action Centre"
